I believe she has confused the Eucharist — wherein the body, blood, soul, and divinity of the Alpha and Omega is communicated to the sacramentally shriven believer — with Bingo night.
But my guy was excommunicated, so what do I know …

Dear heaven. I think some Baptists hold that view of communion, but I don’t think it’ll roll with Ratzinger.

It’s only what anybody who opens a hymnal — which fortunately isn’t that many people — learns about Communion during your average Catholic Mass. I keep banging on like a lunatic to my priest (who agrees) and my fellow choir members (who look at me funny) about how hymns are catechism, and if you sing all the time about how nice it is to be all together around the altar, THAT’s what people are going to cling to as an article of faith.
His Holiness does not hold this view of Communion, and is trying to get something done about the crappy hymns, too.

It’s playing off Pelosi’s claim that 500 million Americans would lose their jobs if the stimulus package didn’t pass.
There aren’t 500 million Americans, never mind 500 million Americans with jobs to lose.
